iSpy An iSight For The iPad
February 2, 2010 | Andy Boxall

They’re not saying where the parts came from, but gadget repair company Mission Repair has posted a set of images of the iPad’s bezel, where there is clearly a cutout all ready to accept the same iSight camera found in MacBooks. The picture to the right shows the iPad bezel at the top, with the iSight camera underneath and finally, a MacBook bezel for comparison.
So, why wasn’t it included? Could this be a repeat of the camera quality problems which were reported to be the reason the iPod Touch 3rd Gen didn’t receive a camera? Possibly, but it’s not likely that Apple would have trusted the same source with an even more important product for a second time, leaving only one other logical reason for its omission.
The 2nd Generation iPad will follow the route taken by the iPhone, i.e. the design will not change – thus the bezel will remain the same – but the guts will, adding in the front facing camera amongst other things.
Not that we’re really surprised by this possible confirmation and not that it will put anybody who has already decided to purchase an iPad off, but it’s still good to know one with an iSight could be coming in the future.

I don't buy it. How could these guys have gotten their hands on an iPad already, let alone taken one apart? This smells. Even those doctored images of the iPad Jobs is holding at the launch is nothing more than wishful thinking.
