Nice Spot of Tea! Five Tea-related iPhone Apps

Sitting down with a hot cup of tea is one of life’s little pleasures, but the world of tea isn’t dominated by Earl Grey, English Breakfast or Green, there are many different types and all with their own specific instructions on how to brew them correctly.  Here are five tea-related iPhone apps for the lover of a good cuppa!

Aromatic.

Featuring fifty tea types split into their respective categories, Aromatic comes complete with historical detail and brewing guides for each, plus Google Maps integration and a tea timer.  It’s produced in conjunction with the In Pursuit of Tea company, so there is a little bit of a marketing feel ocassionally, but this doesn’t stop it being infomative.

Teavana Perfect Tea Touch.

Although this app concentrates on the Teavana range, it is free and has some excellent ideas for blending teas together to create new tastes, as well as brewing instructions for Teavana teas and a good few commonly used non-Teavana ones too.  There is also social networking integration and a musical tea timer.

Herbal Tea Remedies.

Herbal tea is widely accepted as being good for you, but did you know just how many different types of things can be helped by drinking a certain brew?  Presented like a eBook, here there are 78 herbal tea recipes to counter everything from an upset stomach to insomnia.

Wheel of Tea.

This has been around for a while but it’s a good, free app and worth mentioning again.  Sometimes tea is not about complicated brewing instructions, it’s about popping a bag in a mug and adding hot water.  But when you’re at work, the tea run can end up being a matter of heated discussion, with no-one backing down.  Wheel of Tea will sort out whose turn it is and store tea preferences too.

TasteTimer.

If you’re going to use a timer app on your iPhone, you may as well ensure it can help you out in lots of different situations and not just for steeping tea.  TasteTimer has categories on tea, coffee, eggs, meat, fish, vegetables and many more, each with recipe details and space for your own notes.
