Rumor: Apple iPad to be available in AT&T retail stores
February 17, 2010 | Robert Nelson

Though the iPad is still not yet available, we are hearing rumors about where those interested will be able to make a purchase. It goes without saying that you will be able to find one with Apple, both online and in retail locations. However, rumor has it that the iPad will also be available with AT&T.
The story is coming courtesy of a tipster from BGR, who notes that AT&T will sell the 3G version of the iPad. Of course, that is not expected to change the announced pricing any. The iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G will still be retailing for $629, $729 and $829.
This move by AT&T will just give them another opportunity to push the data service. And although nothing is official with this just yet, it has been suggested that AT&T is planning to convert some of the netbook displays into iPad displays for in-store playing viewing.
If nothing else, this should give those interested in purchasing an iPad another place to check one out in person, because unfortunately there are plenty more AT&T stores as compared to Apple retail stores.

One of the most likely incumbents to be affected will be electronic books such as Amazon's Kindle eReader, which is widely expected to look clunky compared with Apple's latest offering.
