The SlingPlayer app for the iPhone launched way back in May of last year and since then many have complained about the fact that it was not able to stream over an AT&T 3G connection. Well complain no more, well maybe for a little while. But the good news is that AT&T has finally given in and will begin to allow users of the SlingPlayer Mobile app to steam over 3G.
“Since mid-December 2009, AT&T has been testing the app and has recently notified Sling Media — as well as Apple — that the optimized app can run on its 3G network,” said the carrier in a press release.
As far as when users will be able to begin streaming over 3G, well that is still in the hands of Apple as they need to approve the updated version of the app. And for those of you that have already shelled out the $30, rest assured, this update will be free.
Of course, this move just makes for a slightly better argument in picking up an iPad with 3G. After all, it will essentially give you a television on the go. That is, if television is that important to you.
