UK Ready for Griffin PowerBlock Reserve a Year Ago, Released Now

Aside from its name sounding more like something which clings to the side of a toilet bowl than the bottom of an iPhone, the Griffin PowerBlock Reserve is a desirable accessory for the iPhone power-user.  It has been available in the USA since the beginning of 2009 and now, Griffin have seen fit to officially launch it in the UK too.

The PowerBlock Reserve is a replacement USB charger for your phone that also comes with a reserve battery pack, which magnetically clings to the housing until needed.  LED lights on the front provide information on how much charge the battery contains and according to Griffin, once attached to your phone it will provide ‘hours’ of extra use.

It’s likely that the delay in the UK seeing the PowerBlock Reserve was not just on Griffin’s part, but gaining UK and European certification too.  Still, at least this clever little item will be on sale in Apple stores from February, with a price tag of £30.  The US price is $39.99.

If anyone uses the PowerBlock Reserve, let us know how much extra use the battery pack really returns in the comments below.
