Apple taking a social approach, puts the App Store on Facebook

Facebook users will now have yet another option to be annoyed by their friends, instead, this time it will not be with Farmville or Mafia Wars posts but apps. Yup, Apple is now on Facebook. Or more specifically, the App Store is now on Facebook.

The Facebook page has all the standard goodies including the Wall and Info pages, however they are also using a Featured page nicely in displaying items such as App Store Essentials and App of the Week. Additionally, visitors will also be able to find the top apps, whether they are free, paid or by category.

The part that may find some getting annoyed by their friends is the Search & Share section which will allow you to do just that — search for and then share an app. Once in that section, users will be able to search for an app by name or keyword and then either get the app or post it to their wall as a favorite.

Bottom line, I may be cynical, but for the not-as-computer-friendly iPhone users this may be a nice way to discover new apps.
