Lots of people were paying attention to that first commercial for the Apple iPad, and while some spent the time bashing it, some spent the time looking for the less than obvious details. And it seems that some of the book pricing may have been revealed. Of course, I say may have because no one can be sure if these were real prices or just mock-ups for the commercial.
Based on the commercial, it looks like books from the iBook store are going to run between $7.99 and $14.99. But more specifically, a few that were of interest included;
- “True Compass: A Memoir” by Sen. Edward Kennedy priced at $14.99
- “I, Alex Cross” by James Patterson priced at $12.99
- “Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Journey to Change the World… One Child at a Time” by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin priced at $7.99
Finally, just to offer a comparison, some of the titles seem better and slightly worse as compared to the pricing with the Amazon Kindle. On the Kindle version “True Compass” is selling for $19.25, “I, Alex Cross” sells for $9.99 and “Three Cups of Tea” sells for $7.19.
Of course, this comes the time when the argument of whether or not the iPad will offer a nice reading experience as compared to the eink display found in dedicated ebook readers such as the Kindle.
