Interested in jailbreaking your iPhone but not sure if your device can be jailbroken. That is understood, heck I follow the jailbreaking scene pretty close and still have a hard time remembering which phones can be jailbroken at this point. Its not a hard process, but at this point the ability to jailbreak is based on more than just a firmware number. Of which, 3.1.3 does not qualify, well to be technical, it will qualify if you have an SHSH on file and are willing to downgrade. Of course, a new site called Jailbreak Matrix will tell you that and also a whole lot more. Bottom line, if you have an iPhone or iPod touch and are unsure if you can jailbreak, check here and you will find the answer.
The site breaks it down by device and includes the iPhone 3GS, 3G and Edge as well as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations of the iPod touch. From there it then breaks it down to firmware, baseband, bootloader, version of iTunes and ultimately tells you whether you can jailbreak and/or unlock. Then assuming you are able, it will also tell you which program(s) you can use to accomplish the task.
