The iControlPad is Go!

We first talked about the iControlPad way back in mid-2008, when it was at the concept stage.  It’s fair to say that between then and now, people may have forgotten it even existed, but now the iControlPad is back and according to the website, in mass production!

Before everyone gets too excited, there is one important piece of information you need to know; the iControlPad is only for use with a jailbroken iPhone, so if you’re hoping to use this on your box-fresh 3GS running Apple’s official OS to play Street Fighter IV, it’s not going to happen.

For everyone else, there will be the choice of two different models, although the design will likely be the same.  The iControlPad will share a layout familar to most gamers, as it will have a D-pad, two analogue joysticks, four action buttons, a start button and a select button too.  The difference between the two models is that one will have a built-in extended battery, potentially doubling the iPhone’s usage time.  The image we have used here is an older render and isn’t the final design.

There is no mention of when the iControlPad will be available, but the site does say the first run will be a limited one, or what the price will be.  Visit the site to sign-up for updates.
