According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, it looks like Apple is planning to release not one, but two iPhones this summer. The WSJ is pulling the “people briefed by the company” and “people familiar with the device” sources and, well, in the end this is another the-iPhone-is-coming-to-Verizon rumor.
The details in the article are suggesting that one of those two new iPhones will be a CDMA version handset, that means it will work on Verizon Wireless (and Sprint) here in the US. This is the part of the story that came with the “people briefed by the company source.”
“The new iPhone would work on a type of wireless network called CDMA, these people said.”
But moving on, we also have the other iPhone, which will be a new GSM version, you know, the one we have been seeing come each summer since the original iPhone was released. According to the details on this one, the phone will be released this summer and will “likely be thinner and have a faster processor. And by default, this part of the story came from the “two people familiar with the device” source.
And that’s it. Will we see the mythical Verizon capable iPhone this summer. Maybe, maybe not. But one thing that does lend a little credibility, is the source. This made a big splash on the Wall Street journal website — even sporting a “breaking” tag.

Is this a joke? I don’t know but I find no sense in releasing 2 new product under one manufacturer on the same season. They are taking great risks if this is the case since you cant expect that sales on both units are closely the same and people would always prefer one that is better than the other.

Why wouldn't Apple just release one iPhone with all the capabilities mentioned above. This just shows how they would want to rake all the money in the world by pushing you to buy more of their products.
