Tweetie 2, or what is soon to be known as Twitter for iPhone has been updated. This latest update brings the version up to 2.1.2 and offers a fix for Foursquare as well as a “Surprise.”

Just what could that surprise be? Well, in full spoiler alert mode — the surprise is the addition of a slot machine graphic that will start spinning and after you hit the right combo (is there a wrong combo?) you will be given the official announcement that reads;

“Coming Soon! Tweetie will be Twitter for iPhone (Look for the next app update)”

And although, Tweetie 2 is still available for sale I would hold off on making a purchase because its still priced at $2.99 and soon enough it will be available with its new name — Twitter for iPhone and that app will be available for free.

Honestly I am surprised the price for Tweetie 2 did not drop to free with this update, but alas if you have not purchased it yet, I guess waiting a little while longer to get it as Twitter for iPhone should not be all that hard.
