Facebook app for iPhone updated, now at version 3.1.1 with Facebook Video support
June 21, 2010 | Robert Nelson

This weekend brought a long awaited update for the Facebook app on the iPhone, except while it has brought some worthwhile additions, given the timing of the update it seems to have left a few key items unmentioned.
Lets begin with the good news, what the update has brought to the table. First and foremost, the new version is 3.1.3. That said, the app is now offering the ability to watch Facebook Videos, which for anyone that has use the app can most likely attest to — its about time. Additionally, version 3.1.3 has also brought the ability to view and write on event walls as well as upload photos that are 720 pixels wide.
Plus like any good app update there were also a bunch of bug fixes, which in this case include goodies such as the ability to comment on photo that are being accessed from Notifications as well as the birthday view months will now be listed in the correct order and notes with ASCII text will no longer be cut off on the end.
All of that sounds pretty good, but onward with what seems to have been left unaddressed and come with strange timing. Lets begin with the important, this update makes no mention of anything iOS 4 related, and given that iOS 4 is being released later today this would have seemed fitting. Of course, iPad users will also be less than thrilled to learn that Facebook version 3.1.3 still does not offer proper iPad support. Sure, the app will load up and launch but runs in a regular 1x or badly stretched 2x mode only. Nothing that looks nice in the full screen view.
Oh well, iPhone and iPod touch users will still want to download this update, which can, as always be found in the App Store.
