Since the release of iOS 4 we have heard a few complaints in regards to Exchange sync and how its either not working at all or working very slowly. Either way, non-existant or slow it can be a big issue if you have come to depend on syncing your mail, calendar or contacts using Exchange.
With that, it seems as if Apple has deemed it a big enough issue to warrant its own support page. The page has just recently been added and will help those who have noticed that “Exchange ActiveSync Mail, Contacts, or Calendars do not sync, or sync very slowly.”
The fix appears to be simple and easy enough to do, and in short you will be installing a new configuration profile from Apple. That config file is described as offering a fix in the form of giving your iOS 4 device more time to wait for a response for the server.
Personally, I am not sure how that will fix a slow sync issue, but not being an Exchange user myself, I cannot comment on how well this will or will not work.
Either way, if you are running iOS 4 and having issues with Exchange sync here is what you should do to try and correct the issue;
1. Use Safari on your iOS 4 device to download the configuration profile. It may be easiest to read this article with your iPhone or iPod touch and tap the download link there, but you may also email the attachment to another email account on your iOS 4 device, and tap the attachment to open it.
2. Tap Install to install the profile, and enter your passcode if prompted.
3. A warning message will appear because the profile is not signed. Tap Install Now.
4. Tap Done to complete the installation, then power off your device and power it back on.
5. Wait for your Exchange data to finish syncing.
Afterward, the profile that you just installed will be found under Settings -> General -> Profile.

informative post, but it did not work for me. I am surprised how many problems Apple gets away with in dealing with iOS4 and iTunes. Everyone is making such a big deal about the antenna problem, but it can be avoided or fixed by the user. These issues can not and the media never says a thing about them.

Didn't work for me either – makes me wish I had not upgraded to IOS4. Cant afford to wait hours each time for a simple sync which used to take seconds
Rubbish Apple service again. Can't wait for my contract to run out and get a Nexus
