Chase updates iPhone app, gives you the ability to deposit checks with a picture

Ah, banking apps, they are just that, banking apps and aside from typically giving you some easy access to your account information they are generally not overly exciting. Well, Chase has just changed my mind a little bit on that end.
They have rolled out an updated version of their Chase Mobile app for the iPhone. This update brings the app up to version 2.3.1. It remains available as a free download and is also now iOS 4 tested.
But that aside, lets get into the cool feature — you can now deposit a check by taking a picture of the actual check. In other words, no more running down to the bank and having to worry about waiting in line. Of course, given the requirement of having a camera to take the picture, this option is only available for iPhone users. In terms of limits, the app will only allow deposits up to $1,000 per day and $3,000 per week.
Otherwise the Chase app is also offering the ability to send money. The feature is called Person-to-Person QuickPay and will allow you to send anyone money. The only catch is that you need to know their email address.
Otherwise, if you are an iPad user you can still enjoy the Chase Mobile app (App Store link) as they do have a version available for the iPad. Though you cannot deposit by picture.

USAA Bank has been doing this for quite a long time with their iPhone App, although they have much less stringent deposit limits. I have a limit of $10,000 a day.
@ Nuix I have a limit of $2000 a day. (
