FaceTime Coming to iPod Touch Says John Lewis
July 8, 2010 | Andy Boxall

Before any non-UK readers ask who John Lewis is and how he knows so much about the iPod Touch, you should know that in this case, John Lewis is the name of a large group of department stores spread over the UK, and they have spoken out about the next iPod Touch at an event in London.
Pocket Lint have been party to the company’s Audio and Telecomms Buyer Rob Hennessey’s talk, given to prepare for the coming Christmas season, where he quotes information given to him by suppliers.
Rob talks about a 5 megapixel camera with a flash and HD video capability, presumably the same one as the iPhone 4, plus FaceTime support over Wi-Fi, so we can assume it will incorporate the same forward facing camera lens too. Additionally, to keep up with the latest range of apps and games, the 4th gen iPod Touch will have a gyroscope built-in alongside the accelerometer.
These features will certainly allow the iPod Touch to keep up with the iPhone 4, although it’s unfortunate that Rob didn’t mention anything about the music player getting the phone’s Retina Display. We’d be surprised if it didn’t though. In fact, we’d be surprised if the iPhone 4 came without any of the above, all of which are essential to keep their top-of-the-range iPod selling.
Finally, like everyone else who follows Apple’s relatively rigid announcement/release schedule, it’s said the new model will be out during September this year.
