Free iPhone 4 Case Program Begins, Which Did You Choose?

The plans laid out during Apple’s press conference held this time last week have begun to fall into place today, with the launch of an app to help iPhone 4 users claim their free case.  The application, called iPhone 4 Case Program, presents a selection of third party cases and a black Bumper.

There are six cases available, plus the Bumper, all from well-known case manufacturers.  They are the Incase Snap Case, the Belkin Shield Micra, the Griffin Motif, the Griffin Reveal, the Speck Fitted and the Speck PixelSkin HD.  Not a bad selection at all, and we’d probably go for the Shield Micra or the Griffin Reveal.

If you’ve already purchased a Bumper, then you can get a refund.  This is either being done automatically if you purchased it through Apple with a credit card, however if you purchased from your network provider, you’ll need to approach them for details of how to get your money back.  If you’re an AT&T subscriber, they have a form for you to fill out.

Those who have already put in their order for a case from Apple are being told that there is a 3-5 week wait until it’s delivered, so be prepared to have some patience.  There are also checks in place to ensure that only one case per iPhone 4 can be ordered and the app will not work on any other iPhone except the iPhone 4.

So, have you ordered a case from Apple?  Got a delivery date around the end of August?  Let us know which you ended up choosing in the comments.

nothing got a 3G that two months ago was pretty cool…now iPhone 4 makes it look like an antique…

    Belkin shield micra, clear

  3. Dwaine Says:

I ordered I the incase snap on case – clear. Want a bumper, but not the black one, which was the only one which was on offer. At least with the clear case I can showcase how beautiful the device is.

My iP4 got in today; picked it up at the Apple Store, downloaded and ran the iP4 case app and got "Your iPhone does not qualify for the iPhone 4 Case Program." Huh? Called Apple support and was told that "this is happening to some people". Anyone else had this problem?

    Belkin shield micra, clear

I bet this will cost Apple a lot of money but I am glad the they decide to giveaway the bumper.

I went with a griffin motif. I had the speck fitted before and it broke in a week (plastic cracked from just being in purse). Hopefully this one lasts longer than that!

I ordered the incase snap on in clear, but there was not a good pic or much info about it. Was debating between this one and the Belkin shield mica in clear, but the Belkin appeared to cover both the back and the screen sides and thought might be hard to type on (does anyone know if s this is correct)? Incase makes good products that are sold in the Apple Store so just went with that one…

I choose the Speck PixelSkin HD because it looked the most durable. I only wish they had colors besides black.

Went with the Bumper myself, liked not having the volume and power buttons covered with rubber buttons and like being able to see the apple mirror logo on back.

Odered bumpers. Cases trap micro-grit and grid away 24×7. They protect against damage but eventually the phone looks worse as it becomes scuffed wherever the case touches.

Griffin’s Reveal Etch for the thinness and easy removability.

  13. Mark Says:

if you have a SCREEN PROTECTOR on your iphone 4, the hard cases destroy it. I've tried several cases and the only one that worked was the BUMPER. However the bumper is made of plastic and it attracts lint and the phone is difficult to pull out when in pocket.
NOTE: After, the hard cases destroyed so many of the screen protectors i bought, i found a really good front/back protector by POWER SUPPORT.

I agree that some cases attract more debris and cause more scratches than not having one at all so it took me a few days to decide but through the process on elimination I ended up ordering the incase snap clear case. I agree with Dwaine that the phone is so beautiful that I would hate to cover it up! Will see if I made the right decision when it arrives :)
