With jailbreaking your iPhone now declared a legal activity – in the USA at least – there could be a few more iPhone owners around who want to give it a try, but are put off by the process of actually doing so. However, whether you’re a jailbreak virgin or something of an expert, the option to crack your iPhone via the browser should be a welcome one.
By visiting jailbreakme.com in Safari on your iOS 4 device, be it iPhone, iPod or iPad, you simply follow the instructions, download a file, install it and that’s it! Of course, syncing with iTunes prior to doing this is an essential part of the jailbreak process, as if you would prefer to go back to how things were, a quick ‘restore’ in iTunes will see everything put back to how it was.
Long term iPhone users may recall that Jailbreakme and its creator, Comex, were around when the 1st gen iPhone was released so have some experience in this browser-based jailbreak game. However as with all this type of activity, you have to take the rough with the smooth, and there are several Twitter reports of problems accessing the site itself and with FaceTime, MMS and Wi-Fi after running the process.
Provided you do that all-important backup though, everything should be reversible, so if you’ve been wary but keen to give the Cydia store a go, this could be your best opportunity yet.
If you’ve unlocked your iPhone with jailbreakme, let us know how you got on and whether you’re seeing any performance improvements on a 3G running iOS 4, as jaibreaking has been touted as one of the solutions.

if u have any of the above mentioned problems just restore from backup not a full restore and it'll fix the issues. i had them and did that and no problems ever since.

Here's what I am trying to figure out. I have my iPad jailbroken with SpiritJB. Would love to upgrade to 3.2.1 to improve wifi reception and then jailbreak with Jailbreak me. Is there an easy way to get all my jailbroken apps back after upgrading and re-breaking? Or do I have to install them one by one?

If you found a way to get them back all at once, please let me know but I'm affraid you'll have to install them back one by one.
