Browsing the App Store this weekend? Here are ten new or updated apps for the iPhone and iPad worth taking a closer look at if you are:
A bullet-avoiding vertical scrolling game from cult Japanese studio Cave. You’re going to need a 3GS or an iPhone 4 to run this one, as it eats memory! The app has a special iPhone version of the game as well as a port of the original arcade game. The price will rise to $8.99/£5.49 after this weekend, so now is the time to download this one. $4.99/£2.99.
The classic Sega role-playing game has been faithfully ported over to the iPhone, with both planets, nine towns and nineteen dungeons to explore. $2.99/£1.79.
Sync or stream your music, photo and video collection to your iPhone, then share them with friends too. If you have an iPhone 4, newly shot HD video can be synced between all your LIBOX-running devices too. Free.
Record and save audio files which can be adapted to make you sound like Darth Vader. $0.99/£0.59.
The official application of the online discovery website, bringing stumbling to the iPhone and iPad. Lack of Flash is a pain occasionally though. Free.
The tank battle game that made its debut on Samsung’s bada platform, is now available on the iPhone. The price is listed as promotional at the moment and is supposed to be for only a few days. $1.99/£1.19.
For iPad users and only for institutional clients with Client Link account, so while the appeal may not be broad, it’s indicative of the iPad’s increasing use in the business world. Free.
A fun twist on exploring the solar system on your iPhone, as this lets you do it it while walking around your area! It’s augmented reality, so you’ll need a 3GS or iPhone 4, and it’s all to scale too. $1.99/£1.19.
An iPad puzzle game suitable for all ages, which uses numbers and colors to help you reveal a hidden image. There are 200 puzzles in total, so it should keep you occupied for a while! $2.99/£1.79.
An educational app for young children that teaches numbers and the alphabet in a bright, fun way. $2.99/£1.79.
