Nook for iPhone Released

As part of its rebranding program, Barnes & Noble have replaced their B&N eReader app for the iPhone with Nook for iPhone, a variation on the same application that’s available for the iPad.  The new software has several improvements over its predecessor, all of which has been added to the iPad version too.

The app remains free to download, with the option to check out free samples and to download a variety of free classic eBooks too, although most other eBooks have a price tag attached.  It has been reworked to support iOS 4′s multitasking along with improved resolution on the iPhone 4, and happily syncs with your iPad or computer based Barnes & Noble software too.

The eReader itself provides the option to adjust the size, color and type of the font used along with the background shade to ease nighttime reading, plus it inlcudes access to B&N’s Lifetime Library service to store your eBooks.  LendMe gives you the chance to lend your eBooks to someone else for 14 days, provided they use the Nook app too.

You’re going to have to be in the USA to enjoy either Nook apps, as they’re not available in any other app store at this time.  Also, several iTunes reviewers are mentioning that the Nook for iPhone app is crashing when they try to log in, anyone here experiencing these issues?
