US network Verizon have talked of their plans to bring a live streaming TV app to the iPad, which would run alongside their FiOS service. The app isn’t ready for release yet, but it does have a pre-production name of What’s Hot, and has been described by a Verizon representative as similar to their set-top box.
What’s Hot would use Wi-Fi and allow a person to watch one program on the iPad while someone else watches another on the TV, which does mean that the iPad would have to stay in the house if you want to watch Verizon’s content, as it needs to authenticate the feed.
The application was demonstrated earlier this week, but it isn’t likely to become available until next year, as Verizon must now concentrate on getting licensing agreements in place with content providers. One key piece of information was missing though; price. According to PCWorld, FiOS TV costs between $65 and $90 per month, a figure which is unlikely to go down well inside the App Store.
HBO’s Eric Kessler on the other hand, has been chatting to Bloomberg, where he mentioned that HBO Go would be coming to the iPad and other mobile devices in around six months time. This would be a free service for any existing HBO subscribers, but would presumably be available to others for a fee.
We’re still a while away from seeing either of these two launch, but are they something you’d be interested in? What price would you consider reasonable to pay for HBO’s or Verizon’s service?

Maybe $10 for the HBO service but $15 for the Verizon service.
