When iOS 4.1 was discussed at the most recent Apple event, nothing more than a ‘coming next week’ was divulged when it came to the actual release date, however Apple’s UK website is now saying that the new firmware will be out on Wednesday, 8th September.
Just to recap what’s included in this version, you’ll be getting Game Center, the ability to upload HD videos, HDR Photo and Ping inside iTunes. However we wonder if any of these are more appealing that the bug fixes iOS 4.1 is bringing with it.
We say ‘bug’ because this was the definition Steve Jobs used when he described them, however one could define a bug as a ’small annoyance’, but anyone who has a misfiring iPhone 3G or a tempremental proximity sensor on an iPhone 4 would probably label them slightly differently!
As iOS 4.1 is supposed to cure these problems, and people with access to the pre-release versions have indicated the iPhone 3G runs considerably better under it, we are inclined to believe this could be a highly anticipated firmware release for all the wrong reasons.
Will September 8th be the Day the Bugs Were Fixed? Well, this does come from Apple, so it seems very likely, plus, it could be day one for all the new iPods too.
