The GSMA have issued a press release saying that next year’s Mobile World Congress event will also play host to a new event, Macworld Mobile. They have partnered with Macworld event organizers IDG World Expo to create a special developer event solely focusing on the iPhone and iPad.
Macworld Mobile will be a one-day event and include in-depth training sessions for developers wanting to hone their skills on iOS. Mary Dolaher, the CEO of IDG World Expo, had this to say about Macworld Mobile:
Macworld is known around the world for helping to drive and stimulate the Apple products community with educational programmes and business development activities. At Mobile World Congress, we will help international iOS developers to strengthen their skills, as well as facilitate connections with other developers and the worldwide audience of mobile decision makers who attend.
Although last year’s App Planet event increased Apple’s presence at MWC, the company has never been a major force there, so Macworld Mobile plus 2011’s larger App Planet should encourage even more Apple-related manufacturers and developers to attend. Mobile World Congress 2011 will take place between the 14th and 17th February in Barcelona.
