All I Want for Christmas is a Pouch for my iPhone 4, Which is Wrapped in an Apple Bumper

My iPhone 3G spent its two years inside a Foofpod pouch, and it looked as good as the day it was purchased when my iPhone 4 was delivered.  During my time with the 3G, I experimented with just one other case – from iFrogz – and although it was protective and good-looking, I returned to the Foofpod after just a few days.

Using the 3G without a case felt and looked better, and the pouch did a great job of protecting it when I kept the phone in my pocket or bag.  When it was retired in favor of the iPhone 4, I was confronted with a dilemma, as although the phone fitted inside my Foofpod, it was loose enough to slip out; plus I have to use a case due to antenna problems.

As a fan of the iPhone 4′s design, the Bumper – or equivalent – style case was at the top of my list to use, however the grippy silicone edge prevents it from slipping in and out of the Foofpod, and I’m much too wary of scratches on the screen to leave it hanging around in my pocket unprotected.

I hoped the beautiful Proporta Leather pouch would be my savior, but it’s such a tight fit it’s a struggle to get the naked iPhone 4 in!  Since then I’ve seen a few examples online, but they tend to be holster  or belt-clip pouches – my least favorite case style in the world.  Even returning to my trusted Foofshop in the hope of finding a new product, I found they clearly state their pouches are for naked iPhone 4s only.

My search did eventually turn up one possible solution – Waterfield Designs Suede Jacket for the iPhone 4, available in a size and material suitable for use with an Apple Bumper.  It starts from just $10 and provided you’re in the USA the postage is minimal.  If you’re outside the US, the most basic postage service is more than twice the value of the pouch, making it a tough buying decision.

I doubt I’m the only one in this situation, and would love to hear about your solutions, which may provide me with some inspiration or a decent alternative.  Otherwise, all that’s left for me to do is send out an appeal, and hope the person in question is a reader:

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a good boy this year and don’t want much for Christmas, just a well made, stylish and protective sleeve or pouch for my iPhone 4, which is wrapped in an Apple Bumper.  Perhaps your elves could help?

Thank you.
