Does This Case Reveal the 2nd Gen iPad Design?

Rumors concerning the next generation iPad are becoming more widespread as we close in on the period when the new device is expected to be unveiled.  We don’t know anything for certain yet, but this image of a hard shell case could give us some clues as to the iPad 2′s features.

The case comes from a Chinese company and is described as an ‘iPad Crystal Case for 2nd Generation’, however as it’s impossible to know how accurate the design is, it should still be treated sceptically.

The most obvious alterations are the hole in the top corner and a larger cutout at the opposite end.  The hole clearly suggests a rear-facing camera, while the cutout is in a similar spot to the speakers on the current iPad, so if this is genuine, they could be getting an overhaul too.  The slot next to it matches the docking connector and the volume/mute switches appear to have the same spot too.

While we can see the benefit of a front-facing camera, a rear-facing camera only makes sense for augmented reality applications, as the iPad is simply too large for use as a regular camera. The other downside of the camera lens and other design changes, is that your existing iPad cases and covers probably won’t fit the new model.

Do you think this case accurately shows the design of the 2nd gen iPad?
