CAZE Zero 5 Claims ‘World’s Thinnest iPhone Case’ Prize
January 17, 2011 | Andy Boxall

When an iPhone 4 case is advertised as being the ‘world’s thinnest’, and a measurement of a mere 0.5mm is given to support that claim; can it really be deemed as offering anything other than nominal scratch protection and a pretty shell? The CAZE Zero 5 is just such a case.
Available in grey, pink, black, clear and blue, the Zero 5 is made from lightweight plastic polymer, has top and bottom cutouts, and separate holes for the camera lens, mute switch and volume buttons. There is also a slight lip to provide some lay-on-the-table protection.
Inside the $19.99 pack you’ll find not only the case, but a front and rear screen protector and a polishing cloth too.
We’ve already put a very similar system through its paces, the Power Support Air Jacket. Although it’s not quite as slim as the Zero 5, the extra 0.5mm or so probably adds to its ability to protect against shock. At least it did when the iPhone it encased fell a short distance onto a tiled floor. You pay a $20 premium over the Zero 5, but considering it comes with one of Power Support’s excellent anti-glare films, it could be worth it.
If you want to give a Zero 5 a try, they’re available direct from CAZE.

There is supposed to be a .35 mm case by Pinlo called the Slice3 which is a little thinner than the .5 mm Caze Zero 5. Looks like it only comes with matte colors though.
I bought one of these cases. There is no lip, nor does the sides protrude higher than the front. Therefore the front of the phone is not protected if laid front down or dropped.
