*Competition Closed* Win SleepStream 2 for Your iPhone, plus a SleepStream T-Shirt for you!
February 3, 2011 | Andy Boxall

This competition is now closed, winners will be notified by Wednesday 9th February 2011. Thanks to all who entered!
It was just before Christmas that we reviewed SleepStream 2, a very cool relaxation app for the iPhone. We awarded it 4/5 and found it really did help when we were struck with an annoying dose of insomnia.
It’s not just relaxation either, as SleepStream 2 features Binaural Beats for lifting your mood, boosting energy and even encouraging creativity; all of which can be combined with background noises such as running water, rain or a fireplace, plus some beautiful visualizations.
Thanks to Explosive Apps, the developers of SleepStream 2, we’ve got a brilliant competition for our readers, where you can win one of SIX copies of the application, plus one of their rather excellent t-shirts to go with it!
This generosity is to celebrate the recent release of an update for the app, which as well as some visual and behind-the-scenes tweaks, now has new sounds and audio, including some from the well-known ambient artist DeepSpace.
How to Enter:
It’s easy! SleepStream 2 has a section where you can choose an ambient background noise, such as waves, rain, or sounds from the forest. We want you to tell us which sound is guaranteed to cure your insomnia and send you to sleep!
You can be as creative as you like for this one! So, regardless if it’s the sound of Kimi Raikkonen describing his last race, or the hum of a hard drive; let us know by leaving a comment below, or sending us a tweet to @iphonefreaks.
We’re looking for six winners in total, and they will each get one promo code for SleepStream 2 and one of the super-cool t-shirts you see below! We’ll pick five randomly, but I’ll be selecting my favorite comment to be the sixth winner!
We’re going to run this competition over the weekend and will close it on Monday 7th February 2011 at 6pm GMT.
Some rules and information:
- Only one entry per person please.
- Thanks to the recent relaxation of Apple’s promo-code rules, anyone can enter and still redeem their prize!
- The t-shirt will be sent separately, so we’ll need your address if you win.
- Make sure you leave your email address in the correct field with your comment entry.
- Follow us @iPhonefreaks on Twitter.
- Winners will be notified by email or by Twitter DM, so these two last points must be followed.
- We’ll contact the winners by Wednesday 9th February 2011.
Good Luck!

I would have to say rain drops me to sleep in minuets.. It's particularly bad when it's raining and I'm driving
The sound of my wife's voice, telling me about her day in great detail.
Rainy day will put me into sleep.
The sound of one hand clapping always puts me instantly to sleep! (I don’t sleep much!)
My two sons easy breathing while they are asleep!
This is actually what I use today when I can't sleep. I go to their room and use the spare bed and always fall asleep in no time.
The sounds of calming ocean waves, which reminds me of vacations at the Jersey shore when I was a kid. (Just because I use the term "Jersey shore" should not disqualify me, as I have never met Snooki or the Situation, and I am embarassed that I even know their names)
The audio recording of any meeting I have in my work day.
A gentle rain falling on the tin roof of my in-laws' house always does wonders for me (yes, I like my in-laws.)
And my best anti-sleep noise? We run the air in our house 24x7x365. A few times a year, it'll stop (power failure, just peters out, etc.) Within 10 seconds I'm wide awake wondering wtf is going on. If it's late enough (3am on), I'll not bother trying to go back to sleep as it takes too long to wind down from the imagined thieves…
From a true insomniac: The only thing that has ever been able to lull me to sleep is the methodical sound of breaking waves. I actually used an iPhone recording app (Night Recorder) to tape several hours of the night tide while staying at a beachfront villa in Mexico… Unfortunately, something happened and I lost it when transferring the data to my iPhone 4….:
Most soft water sounds do the trick for me. Rain tapping on the windows, waves breaking at a beach. I suppose it's a throwback to the embryonic stage.
