Ben the Bodyguard Makes iPhone Security Interesting!

Here’s a great example of how to get people talking about your app, a difficult thing to do especially when it’s not a game or photo-sharing service but a security app.  The email introducing me to Ben the Bodyguard started with ‘security with balls’ in big capital letters, and the promise of a story about Ben if I visited the site.

I’m glad I followed the link too, as it’s great!  I’m not go into too much detail as you can visit it for yourself, but treating this inherently uninteresting subject as a film noir is a great idea, and scrolling through Ben’s storyline is unusual and eye-catching.  The trailer below expands on this intro, crossing into Sin City-style territory.

According to the iTunes blurb, the app hides passwords, photos, contacts and other sensitive data inside a safe area with 256-bit AES encryption and a master password.  You can set reminders for private appointments, which need a password to view too.  The app is restricted to the iPhone 4, 3GS and 4th generation iPod Touch though.

We’ve not given the app a try, but you can download it from here for $4.99/£2.99 if you want Ben to look after your stuff.  And let’s face it, seeing as he’s like a cross between Leon and Marv from Sin City, it should be in safe hands!
