12 Days of Christmas App Promises iTunes Gifts Galore
December 7, 2011 | Andy Boxall

It’s that time of the year again, when Apple gets all festive and decides to lavish some gifts on their faithful iTunes users. A new 12 Days of Christmas app has appeared inside the UK iTunes App Store, promising that over the Christmas period there will be a selection of items made free for 24 hours.
This is essentially the same drill as the last few years, so we can expect freebies to come from not only the App Store, but from books, music and music videos too. Interestingly, there’s not mention of TV shows or movies in the iTunes description, however in last year’s promotion these were given away.
The app is free to download and universal for the iPhone and the iPad, but as the promotion doesn’t start until the 26th December, it displays nothing more than the Christmassy countdown image you see below. When you start up the app it asks if you would like to receive Push notifications to alert you about each day’s gift.
What joys will Apple provide us with? Well, 2009′s selection contained Trivial Pursuit for the iPhone, the Lesbian Vampire Killers movie and the first episode of Outnumbered, while in 2010 the Father Ted Christmas episode was free along with Broken Sword and Mirror’s Edge for the iPhone and a pack of David Guetta’s music videos.
At the moment this is a UK-only promotion, so you’ll need a UK iTunes account to download the app and presumably, the free gifts too.
