It was back in May we first heard about Red Wasp’s forthcoming Call of Cthulhu game, entitled The Wasted Land. Details were sketchy at the time, but we’ve finally been treated to not only a release date for the game, but a selection of screenshots too.
Initially available for the iPhone and iPod, Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land will be out on the 30th January 2012, and has been developed alongside the publishers of the RPG, Chaosium. Set in World War 1, a team of soldiers and investigators battle against a cult who want to use the war to open the door to another dimension.
An iPad version will follow the iPhone/iPod edition, along with releases on Android, PCs and consoles. Below you’ll find a selection of screenshots taken from the game, and it’s looking good. The style – in places – is reminiscent of the tower-defense/RPG mash-up Evil Angry Planet, which is a definite compliment, and I’m very interested to see how Red Wasp integrate the creepier elements of the Cthulhu world.
One to look forward to in the New Year!
